HDR10 to SDR Conversion Luts v1.0

The MBOX HDR10 to SDR Conversion LUTs are quick transformation LUTs to move HDR content into the SDR space.  These LUTs are suitable for use as mastering LUTs, and do not require additional color correction to maintain color fidelity.

There are eight LUTs in this pack:

  6. MBOX HDR10 to Rec. 2020 SDR Direct Conversion with Intensity Matching
  7. MBOX HDR10 VFX Monitoring LUT for sRGB Direct Conversion
  8. MBOX HDR10 VFX Monitoring LUT for sRGB Direct Conversion with Intensity Matching

Each of these LUTs assume an HDR10 compliant source, that is, Rec. 2020 color primaries with a SMPTE ST.2084 (PQ) EOTF.

These LUTs use two slightly different techniques to convert HDR10 into three different color spaces (labeled P3 D65, Rec 709, and Rec 2020, respectively) and into sRGB for monitoring VFX on desktop displays.

The Direct Conversion LUTs seek to maintain contrast through the mids and the darks, and to roll off the highlights into SDR peak.  Then, the resulting SDR image is converted into the target color space.

The Vibrance Matching LUTs build on the direct conversion LUTs by adding increased vibrance to the image to better emulate the vibrant look of the HDR image.

The two LUTs labeled VFX monitoring LUTs are for working in HDR VFX timelines, while seeking to see what you're doing on SDR interface displays.  We recommend using these as non-rendering monitoring LUTs.
